Ramadan has come and gone, and we pray that Allah accepts all of our fasting, prayers, and other acts of worship. It’s bittersweet, isn’t it? We spent a month pouring our hearts into worship, self-discipline, and generosity, and now we’re back to our usual routines. But here’s the thing—Ramadan wasn’t just an event; it was training. And the real test? What we do after it’s over.

Reflecting on Ramadan &Avoiding the Dip

Before we rush back into business as usual, take a moment to reflect. What was the most rewarding part of Ramadan for you? What did you learn about yourself? The best thing we can do now is make dua that Allah accepts our efforts. Because ultimately, it’s not about how much we did—it’s about whether it was accepted.

It is reported that Muʿlā b. Al-Faḍl – Allāh have mercy on him – said:

They (the Salaf) used to supplicate to Allāh for six months asking Him to get them to the month of Ramaḍān; and they used to supplicate for six months that Allāh accept [their fasting and other worship in Ramaḍān].

Abul-Qāsim Al-Aṣbahānī, Al-Targhīb wa Al-Tarhīb article 1761.

It’s easy to feel a spiritual slump after Ramadan. The structured worship, the community iftars, the late-night qiyam at the masjid—they’re all gone. But just because Ramadan is over doesn’t mean we stop worshipping Allah. Keep it simple and continuous:

✔️ Set small, maintainable goals (e.g., read one page of Quran daily)
✔️ Keep up some form of night prayer, even if it’s just 2 rak’ahs
✔️ Stay connected to the masjid or an Islamic class
✔️ Continue tracking your spending with the discipline Ramadan taught you

Don’t let an all-or-nothing mindset hold you back!

How to Spend Your Eid Money Wisely

Did your rich aunties and uncles give you some Eid cash? A work bonus? If so, instead of letting it disappear on impulse buys, try this approach:

💸 30% – Be generous with
🏡 30% – Save or invest in something meaningful (a financial goal, a class, etc.)
🌱 30% – Enjoy guilt-free spending (because balance is key!)
🎉 10% – free for all

Spending wisely doesn’t mean not enjoying—it just means being intentional about it!

Sustaining Good Deeds Beyond Ramadan

Ramadan may be over, but our responsibility to give isn’t. Charity isn’t just for Ramadan; it’s a lifelong habit.

💡 Ideas to Keep Giving:

  • Automate a small, recurring sadaqah (even $5 a month counts!)

  • Support local charities or struggling family members

  • Give non-monetary charity: your time, skills, or even a smile 😊

“Allah loves the deeds that are consistent, even if they’re small.” Keep that generosity muscle strong!

If you want to extend the rewards of Ramadan, fasting six days in Shawwal is the way to go! The Prophet ﷺ said:

“Whoever fasts Ramadan and follows it with six days of Shawwal, it is as if they fasted for a lifetime.” (Sahih Muslim)

That’s a whole year’s worth of rewards for just six extra days. You can do them consecutively or spread them out—just get them in!

Ramadan was a month of building habits that last. May Allah accept from us all and allow us to carry this light forward. Ameen. 💛
